A Cholesterol Lowering Day, photo and article
When choosing our food for each day we should now pay close attention to how much of each nutrient, how much sugar, how much trans fat, how much cholesterol . On the morning news today, rates of cholesterol in children had dropped thirty percent this year. Why? just maybe more exercise and a better diet... fruits, vegetables, lean meats all contribute to a healthier diet and lifestyle. Living simple and healthy still works best for most of us...enjoy your very special and simple day... photo from www.goodhousekeeping.com

A great memory of the Dole Cannery, Hawaii
Many years ago on a family vacation to Hawaii we visited the Dole Pineapple Cannery on Oahu. It was a delightful day filled with adventure. Riding the city bus to and from the plant, taking a guided tour, and best of all, sampling the delicious Dole pineapple products. My youngest brother, then a teenager was tired, hungry and very thirsty. At the end of the tour our Hawaiian guide asked all of the tour group to please help ourselves to the chilled pineapple juice that was in large chilling containers. Oh, it was so welcomed by all. Especially my brother... he stood in line and then proceeded to have twenty three of the small cups of juice. I could not believe he did that, but his response was..."Wow, this is the best juice I've ever tasted!" and it truly was! Since then I've returned to Hawaii...but the cannery closed in 1993...I miss the charm, and especially the pineapple juice that was so generously offered to all... A great memory of a time in history where we could really enjoy the fun, the sun, sandy beach and smiling when we tell this story of the special trip. Thanks Dole for being part of our family memories.
